When I began sketching "Mada," I drew inspiration from the "Lineal Naskh" that defined the golden age of Arabic journalism in the 70s and 80s. I wanted the font to be a "familiar friend" to the eye, as if you’ve known it forever, yet it greets you with a modern, confident face. Every letter tells an old story retold in a contemporary style, providing a visual rhythm akin to visual poetry.

Technical Intelligence for Human Service

Beauty alone isn't enough in our modern world, so I poured my technical expertise into "Mada" to ensure it is inclusive and effective. I equipped the font with smart OpenType features that allow letters to adapt automatically, ensuring a visual balance that is comfortable for the eye, even in high density or small sizes. Since its 2016 launch, "Mada" has grown with me. In the 2024 version, I wanted to offer designers more flexibility. I refined the curves for smoother flow, reduced letter extensions to save space in tight designs, and added new weights to give you infinite freedom in expressing your visual identity.

My vision for "Mada" has always been inclusive. I didn't want it limited to our mother tongue; I designed it to support Persian, Kurdish, and Urdu. Most importantly, I designed its Latin counterpart myself to ensure perfect visual and intellectual harmony between the two scripts, eliminating any stylistic gap.
